Copilot gets it wrong
Management wants us to use Copilot, but it gives wrong answers on our data and nobody can explain why.
An AI readiness assessment from me checks whether your data and BI layer is ready for Copilot, data agents and other AI tools that read it: the Power BI semantic model, the DAX, naming, definitions, data quality and security. I review it, fix the quick wins, and give you a written list of everything else ranked by impact. It is a technical review of your data, not an enterprise AI strategy or a change-management programme.
A concept sales pipeline report on sample data, built to the same modelling standards I check for in an assessment.
Management wants us to use Copilot, but it gives wrong answers on our data and nobody can explain why.
Leadership wants AI tools on our reporting, and nobody has checked whether the numbers underneath are clean enough for a machine to read.
The person who built our model left. The refresh fails now and then, and nobody wants to touch the DAX.
A starting point, never a fixed package: describe how you want it and I build it to match.
Search for AI readiness and you'll find two very different services. One is a strategy exercise about people, processes and which AI projects a company should fund. The other is about the data those AI tools will actually read. I do the second. An assessment from me looks at your Power BI semantic model and the data feeding it, then fixes what would make an AI tool give a wrong or unsafe answer. If you need the strategy and change-management side, that's a different kind of consultant.
This makes it a data readiness assessment in practice, and it pays off even without AI. A model with clear names, one definition per KPI and working security is also easier for people to use.
Q&A, the older natural-language box in Power BI, is being retired in December 2026, and Copilot is the replacement Microsoft points to. Copilot runs on paid Fabric capacity and reads your semantic model to decide which fields and measures to use. If tables are called 'Sheet1 (2)', measures have no descriptions and three columns all look like revenue, it guesses, and practitioners report that the guesses can be wrong with full confidence. Microsoft's own guidance says Copilot's output can vary even after you prepare the data, so the aim is to make the correct answer the obvious one.
A Copilot readiness assessment is mostly unglamorous work: renaming, describing, hiding helper columns and fixing relationships that make a question ambiguous. I measure before I change anything, and if a fix doesn't help, I say so and we drop it.
You share the .pbix or give me guest access to the workspace. Tell me what bothers you most, in your own words.
I profile the model, check the data and the security setup, and ask Copilot the questions your team asks, usually without changing anything yet.
You get the written report, and I apply the safe changes we agree on so you can see the difference straight away.
If the findings call for a larger rebuild, you get a separate fixed quote and decide with all the facts in front of you.
€250 covers a written assessment of one report and its semantic model plus the quick fixes; bigger rework, such as rebuilding a model shared by many reports, is quoted once you've seen the findings.
Verified reviews from real projects, 4.9 on average from 80+ reviews.
“Since I don't have a technical background, getting set up was initially challenging, but Flippie guided me through it with patience and clarity. Highly recommended!”
“I've become a regular customer by now, and the communication is always excellent with outstanding results. He thinks along proactively and asks the right critical questions.”
“Flippie delivered a clear and well-structured Power BI dashboard, translating our requirements quickly into a user-friendly solution. Communication was smooth and the collaboration very efficient.”

An AI readiness assessment checks whether something is ready for AI tools, and the term covers very different services. Mine is narrow: it checks whether your data and Power BI layer can be read correctly by Copilot, data agents and similar tools. That means the semantic model, measure definitions, naming, data quality and security. You get ranked findings and the quick fixes applied, not a strategy deck.
An AI readiness assessment starts at €250 for one report and its semantic model, including the written findings and the quick fixes. Larger models, several reports sharing one dataset, or a deep Copilot review cost more, and you get a fixed quote up front. If the assessment shows a bigger rebuild is needed, that is quoted separately and you're free to take the work to anyone.
No, I stick to the data and BI layer. I don't run workshops on which AI projects to fund, train staff, or redesign processes around AI. What I do is make sure the reporting data your AI tools will read is consistent, well described and secured. If you already have an AI strategy from someone else, this is often the technical check that follows it.
Yes. Q&A is scheduled to be retired in December 2026, and Copilot in Power BI is the replacement. Copilot needs Fabric capacity on top of your normal licences and works best on a clean, well-described semantic model. If your team relies on Q&A today, it's worth checking your model and your licensing before the switch rather than finding out when the feature disappears.
Preparing a model for Copilot comes down to making it unambiguous. Give tables and measures business names, add descriptions and synonyms, hide technical columns, fix relationships so each question has one path, and use Power BI's prep-data-for-AI settings to tell Copilot which fields matter. Even then, Copilot's answers can vary, so I also test the questions your team actually asks and note where it still struggles.
Yes. The assessment is a starting point that I shape around your questions. If you only care about getting Copilot to answer sales questions correctly, or only about one disputed KPI, tell me in your own words and I'll focus there. If you want a full review of every report in a workspace, I'll scope that instead, and the quote follows what you asked for.
Not necessarily. Many assessments work fine from a copy of the .pbix file, ideally with a recent data sample. For security, refresh and Copilot testing, guest access to the workspace helps, and you can remove it the day I finish. I'm EU-based, so GDPR applies to how I handle your data, and an NDA and a DPA are available on request, whether your company sits in Europe or the US.
My Power BI consulting services cover the whole job for B2B teams in the US and Europe: the data model, the DAX, the report design and the handover.
